Associate Director – Structural Engineering (Buildings)

About the role

AECOM is seeking an experienced Associate Director to lead its Building Structures team in Sydney. You will drive the delivery of complex, multi‑disciplinary building projects across a range of sectors, while shaping the growth of the local team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and end‑to‑end delivery of structural projects in health, defence, transport, commercial, aviation and data centre sectors across Australia.
• Provide technical leadership, solve challenging design issues and ensure high‑quality coordination with the wider AECOM team.
• Develop and maintain client relationships, support business development and grow the project pipeline.
• Mentor and manage the structural engineering team, contributing to AECOM’s national capability.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Civil Engineering (or equivalent) with 15+ years of consultancy experience in building structural engineering.
• Chartership with Engineers Australia (CPEng) or equivalent registration.
• Strong communication skills and proven ability to lead complex projects and commercial negotiations.
• Australian citizenship preferred due to role requirements.

Required skills

• Structural design expertise.
• In‑depth knowledge of Australian building codes, standards and regulations.
• Project and commercial management experience.
