Associate Director, Asset Based Finance Operations

About the role

Barings is seeking an Associate Director to join its Global Portfolio Services team in Sydney. The role will oversee high‑quality investment operations for Barings' Australian asset‑backed finance platform, covering portfolio reporting, fund administration and trade settlement.

Key responsibilities

• Support fund operations for both listed and unlisted investment trusts, including NAV review, unitholder distribution and payment processing.
• Prepare, verify and distribute monthly client and stakeholder reports to internal and external audiences.
• Coordinate trade lifecycle activities with market counterparties, custodians and internal teams to ensure timely settlement.
• Reconcile daily portfolio and cash positions, investigate variances and escalate issues as needed.
• Maintain accurate operational records and documentation for fund administration, reporting and settlement.

Required profile

• 4–5 years of experience in fund administration, finance, accounting, settlements or related investment operations.
• Strong understanding of core finance and investment concepts, preferably with fixed‑income or funds‑management exposure.
• Highly organised, detail‑oriented and able to manage competing priorities and recurring deadlines.
• Self‑motivated, accountable and capable of working independently while escalating issues appropriately.
• Professional communication skills for effective engagement with internal stakeholders, custodians and counterparties.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong command of Microsoft Office suite.
