Associate Dean Rural and Head of Rural Clinical Campuses

About the role

The University of New South Wales is seeking an experienced academic leader to serve as Associate Dean Rural and Head of Rural Clinical Campuses. This part‑time senior appointment (0.4 FTE, negotiable) will be based on a major rural campus in regional NSW and will involve regular travel to all UNSW rural sites and occasional visits to metropolitan campuses.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic academic and clinical leadership across all Rural Clinical Campuses (RCC) within the School of Clinical Medicine.
• Advise the Faculty and University on rural health matters and contribute to the development of rural health policy.
• Oversee operational optimisation, quality assurance, and staff stewardship for education, research and clinical activities.
• Foster strong relationships with Local Health Districts, hospitals, and community partners.
• Integrate clinical practice, education, research and innovation within the rural environment.
• Support the delivery of the full six‑year medical curriculum at rural sites.

Required profile

• Current appointment at Associate Professor or Professor level (Level D‑E).
• Extensive experience in rural health education, clinical practice, and research.
• Demonstrated senior leadership and strategic planning abilities.
• Full work rights in Australia (no visa sponsorship).
• Willingness to travel regularly across regional NSW campuses.
