APS6 Safeguarding Planner

About the role

Randstad is recruiting a skilled APS6 Safeguarding Planner for the federal government sector, based in Parramatta, NSW. The role operates under reasonable autonomy and involves identifying, assessing and managing risks around complex and sensitive participant circumstances, providing urgent short-term safeguarding interventions under a case management model. It starts in January 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clear, specialised written and verbal advice, guidance and pathway options to internal staff dealing with safeguarding challenges, while liaising with external entities.
• Interpret and apply relevant legislation, policy and procedural frameworks.
• Coach and mentor staff, including supervising APS3 to APS5 roles when needed.
• Monitor workflow capacity and lead continuous quality improvement initiatives to strengthen service delivery.

Required profile

• Able to assess complex, sensitive information, identify key risks and develop evidence-based safeguarding advice.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to prepare, proof and edit complex documents.
• Sound judgment to apply legislative, policy and procedural frameworks within government guidelines.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and adapt to changing workloads.
• Experience coaching and mentoring staff and supporting team capacity.
• Must be an Australian citizen.
