About the role

We are seeking an Apprentice Pastry Cook to join our busy kitchen team in Port Kembla. The role involves learning the fundamentals of pastry preparation in a fast‑paced environment, with work schedules that include weekends.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist the chef in preparing and cooking cakes, pies, and pastries.
  • Operate commercial cooking equipment such as mixers, steamers, fryers, ovens, and stoves.
  • Perform kitchen cleaning tasks, including dishwashing, equipment cleaning, and sanitation.
  • Support other areas of food preparation and storage under supervision.

Required profile

  • Passionate about the food industry and eager to build a culinary career.
  • Punctual, reliable, and flexible to work different shifts, including weekends.
  • Well presented and able to work effectively as part of a team.

Required skills

  • Basic culinary and knife skills.
  • Knowledge of ingredients and food safety procedures.
  • Ability to use commercial equipment such as mixers, ovens, fryers, and steamers.
