APAC Tax Manager

About the role

Wabtec is hiring an APAC Tax Manager for a permanent full-time position based in Melbourne CBD, reporting to the Senior Director, Tax. The role covers ANZ, SEA and Japan and works closely with Finance and external tax providers on timely and accurate tax filings, including compliance and ad-hoc advisory work.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the interface between finance teams in the region for collecting and analysing data and documents needed for local tax returns, and support the external tax provider on compliance work
• Review optimised legal structures for commercial deals and support transfer pricing matters, including TPD, CbCR notifications, Public CbC and local file obligations
• Prepare for tax audits and reviews within the region and work with finance teams to support the preparation of tax provisions and deferred taxes for statutory accounts and US GAAP reporting
• Review tax filings prepared by external providers, including CIT, VAT/GST, FBT and Pillar 2, and statutory tax disclosures for audit
• Evaluate internal tax policies and procedures, recommend improvements to tax systems and controls, and support tax governance measures
• Work with external providers, regional tax leaders and global tax controllership teams to ensure consistency in process, risk and outcomes

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Commerce or Accounting, CA, CPA or Master of Tax
• Minimum 7-10 years of tax experience in a global MNC, business or Big 4 firm
• Current working rights in Australia; visa sponsorship is not available
• Background and criminal history check required for successful candidates

Required skills

• Advanced computer software skills, including Excel and accounting packages (Oracle and Sage preferred)
• Strong communication, analytical and attention to detail skills
