ANZ Sales Leader - Grid Automation
gevernova · Sydney
Job description
About the role
The ANZ Sales Leader for Grid Automation is the primary commercial architect for the regional business, accountable for delivering an annual Order Intake (OI) target of at least USD $40 million. As lead strategist for GE Vernova's automation footprint across Australia and New Zealand, you will define the long-term country growth plan, align the digital and automation portfolio with regional grid modernization and the energy transition, and lead a high-performing team. The role balances executive-level strategy with hands-on engagement in complex, high-stakes deal negotiations.
Key responsibilities
- Own a comprehensive country strategy, identifying high-growth segments such as large-scale renewables, transmission stability projects and industrial decarbonization, and championing GE Vernova as the partner for grid stability and digital transformation
- Monitor regional energy trends, utility CAPEX cycles and competitor behaviour, and run win-back initiatives and net-new business pursuits
- Take full ownership of the $40M+ OI budget, lead pipeline reviews, forecast accurately to global leadership and manage commercial risk
- Spearhead must-win negotiations and oversee the end-to-end sales funnel using pipeline management tools and value-based selling
- Bridge customer pain points (grid congestion, DER integration) with technical solutions
- Coach and mentor a geographically dispersed team and build relationships with Tier-1 EPC firms and system integrators so GE Vernova is specified early in FEED and design phases
- Work across the global matrix with product engineering, supply chain and project delivery teams
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems or a related technical discipline; MBA highly preferred
- 15+ years of progressive experience in technical sales or business development, including at least 5+ years as a senior sales leader in the ANZ energy market
- Proven track record of managing and exceeding annual sales targets of $40M+ in electrical or industrial automation
- Ability to move between country strategy and day-to-day deal closure, with strong communication and storytelling skills
Required skills
- Expert knowledge of Grid Automation portfolios: Protection & Control (PAC), Substation Automation, Monitoring and Diagnostics, communication products and digital grid solutions
- Preferred: established C-suite network in ANZ utilities, renewable developers and Tier-1 EPC firms, and experience leading country strategy transformations in large matrixed organisations
