Accountant – Tax & Compliance

About the role

Tyro is looking for a Tax & Compliance Accountant to join its Accounting team on a 12‑month fixed‑term basis. You will work directly with customers, handling a variety of tax and compliance tasks across multiple industries.

Key responsibilities

• Review Tyro accounting bookkeeping for customers requesting an accountant review.
• Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS) for both standard and VIP clients.
• Prepare income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, companies and trusts.
• Produce financial statements as required and ensure compliance with Australian accounting standards.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiencies.
• Provide customer support for accounting queries and guide clients through their lodgements.
• Assist the Manager of Accounting and Tax with ad‑hoc projects.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary and professional qualifications (IPA, Tax Agent, BAS Agent or equivalent).
• 3+ years of experience in public practice as an Accountant or Tax Agent, or a similar role.
• Strong understanding of Australian Accounting Standards.
• Ability to navigate multiple systems and platforms simultaneously.
• Experience working across a variety of industries.
