Accountant – Management Accounting or Revenue & Treasury

About the role

Mackay Regional Council is building a recruitment pool for two accountant positions within its Financial Services division. The roles will support Council programmes through budgeting, forecasting, reconciliations, reporting and practical business‑partnering advice.

Key responsibilities

• Provide financial advice, check data accuracy and reconcile accounts.
• Support reporting and build effective relationships with internal stakeholders.
• Management Accounting: develop budgets, forecast, cost projects, analyse variances and report financial performance.
• Revenue & Treasury: manage cash‑flow, perform bank and trust reconciliations, oversee investments, reserves, loans and revenue‑related reporting.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Business, Finance, Commerce or Accounting.
• QLD C‑class driver’s licence.
• Sound knowledge of accounting systems, financial processes and Microsoft Office.
• Experience in budgeting, forecasting, project costing, reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Strong analytical, communication and organisational abilities.
