Aboriginal Mental Health Worker

About the role

The WA Country Health Service (WACHS) is recruiting an Aboriginal Mental Health Worker for its Great Southern region. The worker works as a member of the multidisciplinary regional mental health team and helps make mental health services more accessible to Aboriginal people and their communities. This is a permanent full-time appointment.

Required profile

• Must be of Aboriginal descent (Section 50(d) of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984).
• Valid Australian work rights; permanent appointments can be made to citizens, permanent residents and visa holders.
• Suitability is assessed on cultural knowledge and community connection, mental health and support experience, teamwork and professional skills, and ethical alignment.
• A criminal records screening and integrity check is required, and a working with children check and pre-employment health assessment may also be needed.
