2D Animation Design Artists – Expression of Interest

About the role

Flying Bark Productions is seeking talented 2D design artists for upcoming projects with Disney, Netflix and other high‑profile series. This is an expression of interest – roles will open later in 2027, and the studio is building a talent pool now.

Key responsibilities

• Design characters, environments, props, vehicles and colour scripts from concept through production‑ready turnarounds.
• Create background layouts and paint final backgrounds to match established show styles and quotas.
• Collaborate with leads to maintain visual consistency across on‑shore and off‑shore teams.

Required profile

• Strong, clearly presented portfolio in your chosen discipline (character, prop, environment, colour script or background).
• Ability to work from rough exploration to final, production‑ready art while meeting deadlines.
• Comfortable replicating an established show style and communicating proactively.

Required skills

• Fundamental art skills: shape language, form, proportion, perspective, colour and composition.
• Experience with 2D animation pipelines and quota‑driven production environments.

What we offer

• Hybrid work model with flexible remote options for artists who can overlap Sydney business hours.
• Access to a state‑of‑the‑art studio, wellbeing programmes, mental health support and regular social events.
• Career development, training opportunities and a supportive, inclusive culture.
