Sr. Associate, Mechatronics Design Engineering

About the role

Alcon is seeking a Senior Associate to design, test, and optimise mechatronic systems that combine mechanical, electrical, and software components. You will work on high‑precision, automated production equipment that supports medical imaging and optical products.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and validate mechatronic subsystems for production equipment.
• Analyse performance data, refine control algorithms and support intelligent automation development.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional engineers to troubleshoot system issues.
• Ensure compliance with technical and regulatory standards, including GxP SOPs.
• Maintain accurate documentation and uphold rigorous quality‑control practices.
• Complete required training and drive continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mechanical Technology or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years experience designing high‑precision, automated production equipment.
• Hands‑on building experience; optical‑industry exposure is a plus but not mandatory.
• Background in automation, industrial automation or mechatronics engineering.
• Strong commitment to compliance, safety and continuous improvement.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• No visa sponsorship or relocation will be provided.

Required skills

• SolidWorks (mandatory).
• PDM (preferred).
• GD&T and engineering drawing competency.
• Mechanical, electrical and mechatronics design knowledge.
• Automation and control‑algorithm development.
