Associate Procurement Operations (12‑month contract)

About the role

Alcon is seeking an Associate Procurement Operations to support engineering and manufacturing teams in sourcing tooling, fixtures and custom components from prototype through production release. This 12‑month contract role is based in Mulgrave, Australia and focuses on supplier qualification, purchase order management and ensuring timely delivery of critical items.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with Engineering and Manufacturing to source newly designed tooling, fixtures, and custom components from prototype through production release.
• Identify, qualify, and onboard suppliers in compliance with medical device quality system requirements (e.g., ISO 13485, FDA QSR).
• Coordinate RFQs, supplier technical reviews, and cost analyses for complex, engineered parts and tooling.
• Issue and manage purchase orders in alignment with approved specifications, drawings, and change controls.
• Ensure timely delivery of long‑lead and critical items to support engineering builds, validation activities, and production schedules.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 + years experience in procurement or sourcing for production in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Good interpersonal skills, team‑player attitude and hands‑on approach including order placement.
• Ability to work independently, organized, with strong time‑management under tight deadlines.
• Analytical mindset with risk‑mitigation capability.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and learning agility.
• Full Australian work rights; no visa sponsorship or relocation provided.
