About the role
Alcon is seeking a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer to drive supplier‑related quality initiatives within its manufacturing operations. You will work closely with procurement, logistics, R&D, and production teams to ensure component quality, supply continuity, and compliance with medical‑device standards.
Key responsibilities
- Investigate non‑conforming supplier material, lead containment, corrective actions, and coordinate rework/return.
- Manage the Supplier Corrective Action Request (SCAR) process and verify root‑cause implementation.
- Trend and analyze supplier defect and capability data to identify systemic risks and improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with R&D and manufacturing on component specifications and inspection strategies.
- Partner with IQC, procurement, operations, and engineering to maintain quality and supply continuity.
- Support new product development by assessing supplier readiness and robustness early in the design cycle.
- Monitor supplier quality QMS metrics and conduct regular reviews with internal and external stakeholders.
- Communicate supplier performance, risks, and escalations to leadership in a data‑driven format.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline.
- 5+ years of supplier quality experience in manufacturing (medical devices, electronics, mechanical or aerospace).
- Auditor experience with ISO 9001 and ISO 13485.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and apply GD&T principles.
- Full Australian work rights; no visa sponsorship or relocation provided.
