Senior International Economist

About the role

As a Senior International Economist in ANZ’s Economic Research team, you will deliver high‑quality economic analysis on the United States, Europe/UK and Japan for institutional clients, internal stakeholders and the media across the Australasia time zone. Your work will help reinforce ANZ Research’s reputation as a leading source of economic insight.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse and forecast G3 economies (US, Europe/UK, Japan) and assess implications for markets, policy and business cycles.
• Build trusted relationships with internal stakeholders and external clients to expand ANZ’s research footprint.
• Represent ANZ externally through regular client, market and media engagements.
• Support risk management, stress‑testing and strategic planning activities.
• Contribute to Australian research and Markets morning meetings.
• Promote a collaborative team culture aligned with ANZ’s values.

Required profile

• Self‑starter with a strong passion for macroeconomics.
• Proven experience in macroeconomic analysis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to explain complex economic issues clearly.
• Understanding of how economic and political developments affect financial markets.
• Robust analytical and numerical abilities for rapid interpretation of macro data.
• Familiarity with data‑science and AI/ML applications in economics.
• Preferred experience in a policy‑making institution (Treasury or central bank) with expertise in monetary, fiscal or trade policy.
