Retail Building Operations Manager

About the role

JLL is looking for a hands-on Retail Building Operations (Facilities) Manager to look after Central Square Ballarat and Thompson's Parkway. It is an on-the-ground role based in Ballarat, VIC, with daily presence on site, covering building operations, maintenance, contractor coordination and tenant liaison.

Key responsibilities

• Walk the centre daily, check plant rooms, car parks, common areas, amenities and back-of-house spaces, and spot issues early
• Complete property inspection reports and follow up on actions
• Maintain building systems, plant and equipment to Australian Standards, and keep the preventative maintenance schedule current
• Coordinate contractors such as cleaners, security, HVAC technicians, electricians and plumbers
• Ensure fire safety, essential services and security systems are maintained, and ensure OH&S compliance across operations and contractors
• Respond to incidents, complete reports and liaise with insurers when needed, and be available for after-hours emergencies
• Build relationships with retailers, inform them of planned works, Centre Rules and WHS requirements, and manage minor fit-outs and building works with minimal disruption
• Support the Centre Manager with budgets and assist with capital works planning and delivery

Required profile

• Proven experience in shopping centre operations or facilities management, with a strong understanding of compliance requirements
• Ability to manage budgets, prepare financial forecasts and deliver cost-effective outcomes
• Tertiary qualification in property management, facilities management, engineering or a related field (highly regarded)
• Experience in contract administration, tendering and project management in a retail property environment (highly regarded)
• Valid driver's licence and a clear police record

Required skills

• Technical knowledge of building systems, plant and equipment and maintenance protocols
• Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word)
• Property management or facilities management software
