About the role
The Royal Hobart Hospital is seeking a Rehabilitation Medicine Registrar to join its Department of Rehabilitation Medicine for a 12‑month fixed‑term training placement starting February 2027. This role forms part of a recognised 4‑year physician training programme overseen by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
Key responsibilities
- Manage day‑to‑day care of in‑patients and out‑patients across the hospital’s rehabilitation units.
- Provide after‑hours emergency cover on a rostered on‑call basis.
- Rotate through clinical sites at 90 Davey Street, Hobart and 30 Cascade Road, South Hobart.
- Participate in procedural services, including ultrasound‑guided botulinum toxin injections.
- Engage in teaching sessions and protected training time as part of the comprehensive training program.
Required profile
- General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Eligibility to commence training at the end of PGY2.
- Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration where applicable.
- Successful completion of pre‑employment checks (conviction, identification, disciplinary).
Required skills
- Ultrasound‑guided injection techniques (e.g., botulinum toxin administration).
What we offer
- Salary range $134,930 – $189,005 per annum (Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022).
- Fixed‑term full‑time contract (76 hrs per fortnight plus 10 hrs protected training time).
