About the role
The University of Tasmania, through the Menzies Institute of Medical Research, seeks a Principal Research Fellow to lead world‑class health and medical research that benefits Tasmanians and contributes globally. This senior academic position (Level C‑E) will shape a collaborative, high‑performing research culture across multiple themes and platforms.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver internationally recognised research at academic level C, D or E.
- Undertake high‑quality, innovative research aligned with Menzies’ strategic priorities.
- Secure and grow competitive research funding.
- Publish findings in leading scientific journals.
- Supervise and mentor higher‑degree research students and early‑career researchers.
- Build and sustain partnerships with industry, government, health services and community organisations.
Required profile
- Established research leader in laboratory‑based, clinical or population health research.
- Strong record of national and/or international research recognition.
- Commitment to translating research into policy, practice and real‑world outcomes.
