Payroll Operations Specialist

About the role

Johnson Controls is seeking a Payroll Operations Specialist to join its ANZ Payroll team. Reporting to the Payroll Manager and supporting two Payroll Officers, you will ensure accurate and timely payroll processing across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day payroll operational support for Australia and New Zealand, guaranteeing employees are paid accurately and on time.
• Maintain and update payroll process documentation, checklists and calendars.
• Process all statutory and non‑statutory payments in accordance with schedules.
• Ensure data integrity within payroll systems and compliance with country‑specific requirements.
• Administer payroll data collection, calculation and entry, and prepare earnings, tax, deduction and leave summaries.
• Resolve payroll discrepancies, perform reconciliations and support month‑end and year‑end processes.
• Submit Single Touch Payroll / Pay Day filings accurately and on time.
• Manage payroll and employee master file records and liaise with third‑party vendors.
• Respond promptly to employee payroll queries and assist with system migration projects.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of experience in Payroll or HR Operations.
• Strong knowledge of interpreting Awards and Enterprise Bargaining Agreements.
• Experience working in unionised environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Finance, Business or a related field.
• Professionalism and discretion handling confidential information.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with payroll systems such as Chris21, Ramco, Workday or Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
• High attention to detail, strong time‑management and excellent communication abilities.
