Lead System Administrator

About the role

Rising Sun Pictures is seeking an experienced, hands‑on technology leader to head its Systems Administration team. You will provide technical direction, mentorship, and ensure the delivery of reliable, secure, and high‑performance IT services across the studio.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as senior escalation point for complex Linux, macOS, and Windows infrastructure issues.
• Administer servers, storage, networking, virtualization platforms, backups, and endpoint devices.
• Manage deployment, maintenance, and lifecycle of laptops, workstations, and thin clients.
• Support enterprise platforms such as Okta, Microsoft 365, Ceridian, ADP, and production applications like Maya and Nuke.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure, Production, Operations, and Support teams to ensure reliable technology services.
• Identify recurring issues, lead root‑cause analysis, and drive operational improvements.
• Maintain documentation, disaster‑recovery plans, and security best practices.
• Contribute to projects involving Proxmox, Ovirt, StorNext, Ceph, Ruckus, Mellanox, and Sophos.
• Coordinate planned maintenance and uphold high service levels.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in Systems Administration, Infrastructure, or related IT roles with leadership responsibilities.
• Strong hands‑on expertise across Linux, macOS, and Windows environments.
• Proven ability to manage enterprise infrastructure, networking, virtualization, storage, backup, security, and cloud technologies.
• Experience supporting production‑focused environments such as VFX, animation, gaming, or media is highly regarded.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and organisational skills.
