Defence Growth Director

About the role

AECOM is seeking a Defence Growth Director to lead client engagement, market positioning and pursuit strategy across Canberra’s defence and national security landscape. The role will act as the face of AECOM to defence decision‑makers, leveraging an existing network and credibility to drive commercial growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead engagement with key defence decision‑makers, including DoD, AUKUS agencies and defence OEMs.
• Maintain deep market knowledge of Canberra’s defence landscape, capability acquisition and national strategy priorities.
• Partner with account and sector directors to secure enterprise‑critical and tier‑2 pursuits aligned with national defence growth.
• Represent AECOM at industry forums, conferences and community events as a trusted advisor.
• Apply capture processes tailored to defence procurement, including security, risk and governance requirements.

Required profile

• Established network across Australian defence decision‑makers, primes, OEMs and the broader community in Canberra.
• Background in the Australian Defence Force or significant civilian experience working alongside defence.
• Credibility to walk into rooms as a trusted advisor rather than a vendor.
• Commercial acumen and strategic mindset to translate relationships into revenue growth.
• Australian citizenship and eligibility for government security clearance (preferred).
