Assistant Manager – Business Banking (Launceston)

About the role

Working alongside a supportive Relationship Manager, you will manage and grow a portfolio of business banking customers in Launceston. The role focuses on small to medium enterprises or specialised industries, building trusted relationships and driving growth through acquisition, referrals and increased share of wallet.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a detailed understanding of each customer’s business and financial needs.
• Provide suitable products and services with a customer‑centric approach.
• Maintain a compliant, well‑managed portfolio and control workflows across compliance and fulfilment processes.
• Collaborate with product partners and stakeholders to meet customer requirements.
• Support growth through acquisition, referrals and identifying opportunities to increase share of wallet.
• Build industry and customer insights, including specialist knowledge where relevant.

Required profile

• Prior experience in commercial banking frontline roles and commercial lending.
• Strong communication skills and ability to handle service queries and resolve minor issues.
• Attention to detail when reviewing agreements and contracts.
• Ability to assess creditworthiness using qualitative and quantitative factors.
• Familiarity with risk management concepts and regulatory requirements such as KYC and AML.
• Interest in developing deeper industry or segment knowledge.
