Supermarket Butcher - North West Melbourne

About the role

A busy retail butchery in the north-west suburbs of Melbourne is looking for a full-time Butcher. You will prepare fresh meat for retail customers in a stable environment with steady hours and a strong family-style team. The position is permanent and full-time; sponsorship and work visas are not accepted.

Key responsibilities

• Break down beef, lamb, pork and chicken into retail-ready cuts
• Trim, slice and package fresh meat so it looks good in the cabinet
• Set up and maintain butchery displays and labels
• Rotate stock, check dates and minimise waste
• Keep the butchery area clean, safe and compliant with food safety rules
• Help the team across the meat and fresh food sections when needed

Required profile

• Qualified butcher, experienced retail butcher or strong meat worker wanting to grow in butchery
• Good knife skills and genuine interest in butchery work
• Understanding of basic food hygiene and meat handling
• Reliable and fit enough to lift, bend and stand during shifts
• Positive attitude, good with customers and able to work in a small team

What we offer

• Pay of $32 to $38 per hour plus superannuation, depending on skills and experience
• Annual salary range of $70,000 to $75,000
