Director of Rooms

About the role

The Director of Rooms acts as the strategic business leader for the property's Rooms department, overseeing all aspects of room quality, revenue growth, and financial performance. This senior position works closely with direct reports to develop and execute departmental strategies that align with the brand’s service vision and business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Rooms team, communicating clear departmental goals and making decisions to drive the property toward target outcomes.
• Analyze service issues, develop operational strategies, and review expenses to ensure profitability and alignment with brand strategy.
• Monitor sales performance against budget, coach the team on occupancy, rates, wages, and controllable expenses, and hold staff accountable for results.
• Deliver exceptional customer service by reviewing guest feedback, handling complaints, and continuously improving the guest experience.
• Manage human‑resources activities including recruitment, performance appraisals, employee communication, and fostering a culture of service excellence.

Required profile

• Education: 2‑year degree in Business Administration, Hotel & Restaurant Management or related field, or a 4‑year bachelor's degree in the same disciplines.
• Experience: Minimum 4 years in guest services, front desk, housekeeping, sales & marketing, or management operations (or 2 years with a bachelor's degree).
