Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

Our client designs and manufactures specialist industrial equipment and is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Adelaide team on a permanent basis. The role involves leading the design of complex hydraulic, pneumatic and fluid systems from concept through to production.

Key responsibilities

• Develop 3D CAD models and detailed technical drawings using Inventor, SolidWorks or Fusion 360.
• Manage full‑lifecycle design projects, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to coordinate manufacturing, assembly and testing.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation, BOMs and input parts into the MRP system.
• Perform hand calculations, FEA, validation and prototype testing to verify designs.
• Liaise with external manufacturers and support final assembly activities.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of experience in mechanical design engineering.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, lubrication or fluid systems.
• Strong theoretical knowledge of core engineering principles and tight tolerances.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
