About the role
WorkSafe Queensland is seeking a Lead Inspector for Construction to join the Major Construction Project team. In this senior position you will guide a team of inspectors, enforce WHS legislation and help reduce serious injuries and fatalities across Queensland’s high‑risk construction sites.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a group of construction inspectors within the Compliance and Field Services directorate.
- Conduct independent inspections and investigations on major construction projects to ensure compliance with WHS laws.
- Engage with employers, workers and senior stakeholders to communicate safety expectations and enforce corrective actions.
- Support the implementation of the Best Practice Review for Workplace Health and Safety Queensland.
- Prepare reports, recommendations and, where required, pursue prosecution for breaches of legislation.
Required profile
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a safety, compliance or enforcement environment.
- Strong written communication and time‑management abilities.
- Proven capacity to handle complex, high‑pressure conversations professionally.
- Commitment to improving workplace safety across Queensland.
