Director (International Operations)

About the role

Trade and Investment Queensland (TIQ) is seeking a Director to lead its International Operations Directorate. Reporting to the General Manager, International Operations, you will oversee day‑to‑day activities across 27 overseas locations in 18 markets, ensuring Queensland’s trade and investment agenda is delivered globally.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and governance for the Directorate, aligning operations with organisational priorities.
• Coordinate international operations as the central liaison between on‑shore and offshore teams, managing policy alignment, corporate planning and reporting frameworks.
• Lead complex projects such as business planning, budgeting oversight, performance reporting, lease management, procurement and major contract administration.
• Offer high‑level strategic and operational advice on trade, investment and global operating environment issues.
• Foster cross‑government and inter‑agency collaboration, building relationships with state, federal, local and foreign stakeholders.
• Oversee executive insights, briefing preparation and delivery from the international network.

Required profile

• Extensive senior leadership experience in international operations, trade or investment.
• Proven ability to manage large, geographically dispersed teams and complex projects.
• Strong understanding of government trade and investment policies and processes.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement skills across multiple jurisdictions.
