Youth Worker - Townsville

About the role

selectability is looking for a Youth Worker to join its growing team. Its youth residential program provides accommodation and intensive support to children and young people with a variety of needs, some with high to complex needs. The Youth Worker plays a vital role in helping them live their best life, within consistent and stable teams.

Key responsibilities

• Support children and young people in their residential program, working directly with them and demonstrating child-safe, trauma-informed and culturally safe practice in daily interactions, decisions, supervision and documentation.
• Work across a 24/7 roster.

Required profile

• Clear and effective communication skills.
• Ability to work with culturally and linguistically diverse communities and individuals.
• Minimum Cert IV qualification recognised under child safety minimum qualification standards, or willingness to study actively.
• Current nationally recognised first aid and CPR certificates (ability to obtain).
• Child Safety and Personal History Screening check, and a positive Working with Children check (Blue Card); NDIS Worker Screening Clearance and orientation module (all obtainable).
• Current minimum P1 "C" class Queensland driver's licence and a roadworthy, fully insured vehicle complying with Queensland road rules.

Required skills

• Computer literacy and accurate record management.
• Ability to follow policies and procedures.
