Youth Worker - Child and Family Care

About the role

selectability, a not-for-profit charity focused on mental wellbeing and suicide prevention in regional Queensland, is looking for a Youth Worker to join its growing team. Its youth residential program provides accommodation and intensive support to children and young people with a variety of needs, some with high to complex needs. The role works directly with young people and requires child-safe, trauma-informed and culturally safe practice in daily interactions, decisions, supervision and documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Support children and young people to live their best lives within the residential program.
• Work with children and young people who may have high to complex needs.
• Follow policies and procedures and maintain accurate records.
• Work with culturally and linguistically diverse communities and individuals.

Required profile

• Clear and effective communication skills.
• Minimum Cert IV qualification recognised under child safety minimum qualification standards, or willingness to study actively.
• Hope and Healing certification for residential care (obtained on commencement).
• Current minimum P1 "C" class Queensland driver's licence and a registered, roadworthy, fully insured vehicle compliant with Queensland road rules.
• Nationally recognised first aid and CPR certificates (obtainable).
• Child Safety and Personal History Screening check, a positive Working with Children check (blue card) and NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (all obtainable).
• Ability to work across a 24/7 roster.
