Youth Justice Service Centre Manager

About the role

The Youth Justice Service Centre Manager leads the delivery of high‑quality youth justice services, overseeing case management, restorative justice processes and partnership development with families, courts, Child Safety and community organisations.

Key responsibilities

• Demonstrate and develop cultural capability to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander connections in line with the Human Rights Act 2019.
• Manage staff, physical and financial resources according to legislative provisions, departmental policies and best practice.
• Provide leadership in service delivery, designing responses that meet the needs of young people, families and the wider community.
• Participate in regional leadership teams, contributing to strategic planning and decision‑making.
• Lead and engage in local forums with government and non‑government stakeholders to build productive partnerships.
• Foster a collaborative culture focused on high‑quality frontline service, teamwork and professional ethics.
• Offer high‑level advice to regional management on service outcomes, improvement strategies and performance agreements.
• Oversee recruitment, selection, professional development and culturally appropriate supervision of staff.
• Engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, respecting cultural protocols and historical contexts.

Required profile

• Commitment to inclusive culture and cultural capability development.
• Proven experience managing staff, budgets and resources in a public‑sector environment.
• Strong leadership and strategic planning abilities.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and partnership building skills.
• Understanding of youth justice, restorative justice processes and relevant legislation.
• Ability to provide guidance, training and performance management to professional staff.
