Youth Engagement & Connections Officer

About the role

The Youth Engagement & Connections Officer leads the planning and delivery of inclusive programmes that help young people aged 12 to 25 connect, participate and feel a sense of belonging in their community. Working within the Youth Development Unit, the role is hands‑on, operating across centre‑based hubs and outreach settings to create safe, welcoming environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and evaluate youth‑informed programmes and events at City youth hubs (The Nest, The fOrT, Armstrong Creek) and through the Mobile Youth Hub.
• Supervise groups of young people in both hub and outreach locations, managing behaviour, risk and incidents in line with City policies and child‑safety requirements.
• Build and maintain proactive partnerships with schools, educational institutions and local youth services to enhance engagement pathways and coordinated responses.
• Deliver flexible service hours, including after‑hours and weekends, to meet operational needs.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience working with young people from diverse backgrounds.
• Warm, caring and engaging personality with high resilience and the ability to work autonomously.
• Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail and a proactive, creative approach.
• Current Victorian Working with Children Check (Employee) and a valid driver’s licence.
