Work Health & Safety Manager – Queensland Transport

About the role

Ventia is seeking a Work Health and Safety (WH&S) Manager for its Transurban Queensland contract, overseeing safety across a high‑profile Tier 1 transport network that includes motorways and tunnels. This hands‑on leadership position will embed safety into daily operations, influence outcomes and work closely with senior leaders and subcontractors.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a WHS team, providing direction and support.
• Partner with operations to integrate safety into planning, maintenance, incident response and projects.
• Drive risk management, audits and compliance across multiple sites.
• Lead incident investigations, engage regulators and apply ICAM methodology.
• Deliver practical safety solutions in fast‑paced environments and influence leadership and subcontractors to improve performance.
• Monitor trends, identify emerging risks and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Extensive WHS leadership experience in infrastructure, construction or transport.
• Deep knowledge of WHS legislation, ISO standards and risk frameworks.
• Proven ability to operationalise safety, not just develop policies.
• Strong influencing, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Commercially aware and comfortable working in high‑risk environments.
