Security Engineer

About the role

Join Snap Inc.'s Detection and Response team as a Security Engineer, working from the Sydney office alongside global teams. You will design and operate large‑scale security systems, respond to incidents, and drive innovative security projects.

Key responsibilities

• Build, deploy and maintain large‑scale security systems across Snap’s ecosystem.
• Research and develop new security tooling and automation to reduce manual triage.
• Conduct detection engineering to increase coverage of endpoints, infrastructure, networks and cloud environments.
• Investigate alerts and incidents end‑to‑end, including forensics, malware analysis and threat intelligence.
• Lead incident response efforts and collaborate with multiple internal teams.
• Participate in red‑team exercises and threat simulations to identify gaps.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience in incident response, detection engineering or related security disciplines.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or equivalent experience.
• Strong programming skills in Python and/or Go.
• Practical experience with BeyondCorp or Zero‑Trust security models.

Required skills

• Digital forensics (GRR, Timesketch), malware analysis (IDA Pro, Ghidra).
• Host/network intrusion detection and network telemetry (Zeek, PCAP analysis).
• Threat intelligence, threat hunting and incident management.
• Operating system internals for macOS, Windows and Linux.
• Cloud infrastructure expertise – Kubernetes, Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services.
