Wellbeing Leader (Year 8) - Middle Leadership

About the role

Catholic Education Cairns is recruiting a Wellbeing Leader for Year 8 at Good Counsel College, a small, growing Catholic co-educational secondary school (Years 7-12) in Innisfail, Queensland. The position is a full-time, permanent teaching appointment with a three-year fixed-term Middle Leader term (16 January 2027 to 11 January 2030), renewable after successful review and appraisal. Candidates must state the subjects they are qualified and experienced to teach.

Key responsibilities

• Support the school's mission by leading pastoral care of students as school and family community members
• Develop and implement pastoral practices that look after students' welfare and coordinate staff efforts in students' holistic growth
• Ensure programs and processes follow the school's values and help manage behaviour contrary to them
• Improve the quality of teacher practice through supervision
• Build partnerships with parents and carers and with other partners inside and outside the school
• Administer available resources prudently
• Work with Learning Leaders to manage student engagement across all areas of college life

Required profile

• Registered or eligible to register with the Queensland College of Teachers
• Fully supportive of the ethos of Catholic Education
• Committed to creating and maintaining a child-safe organisation

What we offer

• Salary commensurate with experience: graduate $86,600 to proficient level 4 $107,988 FTE gross per year plus a Tier 2 allowance of $13,026, or proficient level 5 and above $137,750 FTE gross per year
