Welcome and Engagement Worker

About the role

Meli Youth Services is looking for a Welcome and Engagement Worker based at Malop Street, Geelong. This is the first point of contact for young people aged 10-25 who may be facing challenges such as mental health, homelessness, justice, substance use and school engagement. The role creates a welcoming, youth-centred experience through strengths-based support, group activities, community connections and meaningful engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Create a welcoming and accessible first point of contact where young people feel safe, respected and supported.
• Connect young people with tailored information, resources and strengths-based support that meets their individual needs.
• Facilitate engaging group activities and youth voice opportunities that build life skills and participation.
• Strengthen community partnerships and youth engagement, including digital channels, to improve connections and inform responsive services.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification or Diploma in Community Development, Social Work, Family/Welfare/Youth Work or a related discipline.
• Proven experience assessing the needs of young people facing complex barriers.
• Experience developing, coordinating and delivering group-based programs and activities.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of social media platforms.
• Demonstrated experience creating engaging and relevant content.

What we offer

• Fixed-term full-time position (1 FTE, 76 hours per fortnight) until 30 June 2027.
• Salary of $105,834 per year plus superannuation and salary packaging.
