Personal Care Assistant

About the role

Mercy Health is hiring a Personal Care Assistant for its Mercy Place facility in Warrnambool. This is a casual position working AM and PM shifts, supporting residents with daily personal care and wellbeing. Applicants should submit a resume, cover letter and relevant qualifications.

Key responsibilities

• Assist residents with daily personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting
• Help with mobility, such as transferring from bed to chair, assisting with walking and using mobility aids safely
• Support feeding and special dietary needs, and assist with medication reminders under the guidance of a nurse
• Help maintain a clean and safe living environment through light housekeeping, such as making beds and cleaning rooms
• Help organise and engage in activities that promote physical, emotional and cognitive well-being
• Respond to residents' requests promptly and professionally, follow care plans set by registered nurses and healthcare professionals, and protect residents' privacy and dignity
• Follow safety protocols, including infection control and use of personal protective equipment

Required profile

• A minimum Certificate III or Cert IV in Aged Care or Individual Support
• Evidence of, or progress toward, a recent police check or NDIS clearance
• Resilience, compassion and commitment to person-centred care
