Waste Water Treatment Plant Operator

About the role

Townsville City Council is looking for a Wastewater Treatment Operator to protect public health and the environment by keeping its wastewater treatment plants running safely and efficiently. The role covers several treatment facilities, working across multiple locations. It is a permanent full-time position on a 9-day fortnight schedule of 38 hours per week, with a salary of $107,609 to $117,294 per year plus super.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and optimise treatment processes across multiple treatment facilities
• Complete operational and maintenance activities
• Undertake testing and reporting
• Contribute to environmental compliance and service excellence

Required profile

• Experience operating wastewater treatment plants or similar industrial/process facilities
• Certificate III in Water Industry Operations (Wastewater Treatment) or equivalent experience
• Ability to monitor plant performance, interpret results and respond to operational issues
• Strong commitment to workplace health, safety and environmental compliance
• Ability to work on an on-call roster and across multiple plant locations
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
