Bus & Coach Mechanic

About the role

A leading PSV and passenger transport company in Townsville, Queensland, is looking for experienced, trade-qualified mechanics to join its growing team. The role covers the inspection, servicing, maintenance and repair of a modern fleet of buses and coaches. International candidates may be eligible for an SID-sponsored visa pathway.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and repair diesel engines and associated components
• Carry out preventative maintenance, servicing and scheduled repairs
• Maintain braking, suspension and steering systems
• Perform inspections and safety checks, keeping vehicles safe, reliable and roadworthy
• Work with modern diagnostic equipment and keep accurate service and repair records
• Work as part of an experienced maintenance team in a modern workshop

Required profile

• Recognised trade qualification in Heavy Vehicle, Diesel, Automotive or a related discipline
• At least 2 years of post-qualification experience
• Experience on buses, coaches, trucks, HGVs or other heavy commercial vehicles
• Good mechanical diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good spoken and written English
• Commitment to vehicle safety and quality workmanship
• International applicants must meet the requirements for an Australian SID-sponsored visa
