Aged Care Social Visitor - Gardening Activities

About the role

HammondCare, an independent Christian charity providing the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme funded by the Australian Government, is looking for volunteers to spend meaningful time with aged care residents through a shared love of gardening. You will connect with residents one-on-one or support small group activities, creating opportunities for conversation, enjoyment and connection.

Key responsibilities

• Chat with residents one-on-one in the garden beds or support small group activities
• Activities may include planting herbs and flowers, watering, potting seedlings, harvesting produce, or simply sharing stories in the sunshine
• No gardening expertise is required; a friendly nature, patience and willingness to build relationships are enough

Required profile

• 18 years or older
• NDIS Worker Screening Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare
• Available Monday to Friday, mornings 9:30-11:30 or afternoons 1-4pm
• Commitment of one hour per week or fortnight for a minimum of 6 months
• Interviews and orientation must take place on a weekday during business hours
