Verification & Validation (V&V) Engineer

About the role

Leidos Australia's Mission Software Systems (MSS) team is looking for a Verification & Validation (V&V) Engineer in Melbourne. You will assure the quality, compliance and performance of complex systems throughout the engineering lifecycle, working with Systems Engineers, developers, cyber specialists and program stakeholders to verify and validate system and subsystem requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Work with Systems Engineering teams to develop and run verification and validation activities against system and subsystem requirements.
• Create and maintain V&V artefacts such as test plans, test cases, Requirements Traceability Matrices (RTMs), verification procedures and test reports.
• Run formal verification and validation, analyse results, document objective evidence and report on them.
• Support Agile delivery, including user story development and estimation, while validating cyber security requirements, security hardening and ISM controls.

Required profile

• Experience in verification and validation environments, collaborating with Systems Engineering teams.
• Experience writing test plans, test cases and verification procedures, and running tests against requirements.
• Experience producing RTMs and other verification artefacts, and collecting objective evidence.
• Knowledge of cyber security principles, security hardening and ISM controls, with experience verifying security requirements.
• Experience in Agile delivery programs, including user stories and story point estimation.
• Ability to explain technical findings clearly to stakeholders.
• Australian citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain an NV-1 security clearance; the role may be subject to ITAR restrictions.

Required skills

• Familiarity with test management tools such as ETM or similar.
• Experience using Jira and Confluence for planning, collaboration and documentation.
• Advantageous: defence or government V&V experience, systems integration and acceptance testing, requirements management frameworks, and exposure to multidisciplinary software and systems teams.
