Utility Service Technician – Utility Scale Battery Sites

About the role

Tesla is looking for experienced electrical technicians to maintain and service utility‑scale battery sites, primarily the 100 MW 4‑hour Merredin BESS project located near Merredin, Western Australia. You will join a high‑performing on‑site team supporting battery storage assets across the WA region and occasionally travel to other regional sites.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair and rework medium to high voltage electro‑mechanical equipment.
• Perform precise diagnostics using LV/MV/HV test equipment and hand/power tools.
• Develop and follow best‑practice procedures for maintenance of Tesla Energy hardware.
• Provide daily updates on work completed, issues identified and future timelines.
• Support additional regional or international sites as required.
• Ensure safe operation of Powerpack and Megapack utility installations.

Required profile

• Certified Electrician (Cert III) with a current electrical licence.
• Minimum 5 years of electrical experience, at least 3 years in the utility sector (solar/wind preferred).
• HV switching certification and experience.
• Ability to interpret complex documentation, electrical diagrams and mechanical drawings.
• Strong computer literacy and ability to use proprietary OEM software.
• Reliable, initiative‑driven, quality‑focused and comfortable working outdoors.
• Valid driver’s licence.
