Underground Trainer – Gold Mining

About the role

Westgold Resources is seeking an experienced Trainer to deliver underground inductions, training programmes and competency assessments at its Big Bell gold mine in Western Australia. Reporting to the Superintendent for Health & Safety, you will play a key role in developing safe work practices and mentoring the underground workforce.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver underground inductions, training programmes and competency assessments.
• Conduct Verification of Competency (VOC) assessments.
• Coach and mentor operators to enhance skills, knowledge and safe work practices.
• Maintain accurate training records and compliance documentation.
• Ensure training activities meet legislative and company requirements.
• Identify skills gaps and support workforce development initiatives.
• Assist in developing and reviewing training materials and procedures.
• Promote a positive safety culture through ongoing engagement with site teams.

Required profile

• Extensive underground mining experience, preferably in gold mining.
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or equivalent).
• Current WA Class C Driver’s Licence and recent National Police Clearance.
• Strong understanding of WA mining operations, safety regulations and underground methods.
• Excellent time‑management, organisational and communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Experience using learning management systems.
