Underground Shift Supervisor - Africa

About the role

AUMS, part of the Perenti group, is a specialist underground contract mining services business operating across Africa. It is seeking expressions of interest from skilled and experienced Shift Supervisors with strong underground development experience for several upcoming works across Africa. The roster is 6 weeks on, 3 weeks off, and the role offers the chance to lead and train national supervisors.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operation of shift workers and equipment usage at an underground mine site
• Ensure all workers on shift are trained and competent to perform their duties safely and productively
• Train national supervisors and the workforce to a high standard
• Ensure mining operations are conducted safely and report safety issues promptly to the Underground Manager
• Ensure targets are met and manage the site in line with relevant Acts and Regulations
• Oversee the mine's duty of care towards employees, subcontractors and visitors
• Organise crews, rosters and the day-to-day running of the site
• Hold daily work planning meetings and toolbox talks
• Submit incident reports in writing to the Site Manager
• Carry out crew training, practical assessments and review employee development, mentoring and performance

Required profile

• At least 5 years' experience as an underground shift supervisor
• Current underground shift supervisor ticket
• Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience
• Current driver's licence
• Proactive attitude to safety and a driven work ethic
