Senior Engineer - Power

About the role

APA, Australia's energy infrastructure partner, is looking for a Senior Engineer - Power to join its Infrastructure Delivery - Infrastructure Engineering team in Perth, WA. This is a permanent full-time position reporting to the Manager, Power Engineering West, focused on complex power engineering projects involving primary electrical systems and high-voltage transmission infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and deliver complex power engineering projects, focusing on primary electrical systems and high-voltage transmission infrastructure.
• Provide specialist technical expertise in the design, development and implementation of primary electrical engineering solutions, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Undertake technical reviews, engineering assessments and complex problem solving to deliver safe, reliable and cost-effective transmission solutions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, project managers and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
• Drive continuous improvement and innovation, providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, with significant experience in power engineering.
• Demonstrated experience in primary electrical engineering and high-voltage transmission systems, including substations and associated infrastructure.
• Proven ability to lead complex engineering projects and resolve technical challenges.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication and collaboration skills, with technical leadership across multidisciplinary teams.
• Eligibility to work in Australia; candidates are subject to background vetting (including police checks).

Required skills

• Strong technical knowledge of primary plant equipment, electrical design principles and transmission networks.
• Knowledge of relevant Australian standards.
