Underground Mine Foreman - Africa Operations

About the role

AUMS, part of the Perenti group of companies, is a specialist underground contract mining services business operating across Africa. It is seeking expressions of interest for an experienced Underground Mine Foreman with a strong background in managing large crews in an underground development mining environment. The roster offered is 6 weeks on and 4 weeks off.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate the activities of personnel engaged in underground mining.
• Review schedules, plans, survey reports and geological records, and consult with engineering, maintenance and supervisory staff to plan and direct mine development.
• Ensure compliance with mining laws and safety regulations by issuing directives to workers.
• Review and consolidate safety and production records.
• Supervise underground shift supervisors and give direction on mining activity planning in line with the Mines Act and safety and environmental regulations.
• Liaise with clients so that expectations are realistic and targets are met safely and to specification.
• Act as relief or alternate site manager during their absence.
• Coordinate manpower, roster preparation and annual leave, and help deploy the workforce.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years' experience in underground hard rock mining, with at least 4 years in a foreman or superintendent role delivering high productivity.
• Strong high-speed development background with operator experience.
• WA Shift Supervisor certificate or equivalent.
• Full pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol testing and site-specific clearances; an array of vaccinations is required for work in Africa.
• National police clearance and any required tickets or qualifications must be presented at interview.
