Transport Allocator/Coordinator

About the role

As a Transport Allocator you will sit at the heart of daily logistics operations, coordinating drivers, managing delivery schedules and providing timely updates to customers. You will work closely with the Transport Coordinator and drivers to plan, adjust and optimise delivery runs throughout the day.

Key responsibilities

• Allocate daily jobs to drivers and maintain run sheets and delivery documentation.
• Monitor driver progress and proactively plan upcoming deliveries.
• Communicate with drivers via two‑way radio to ensure smooth job transitions.
• Track delivery status and keep customers informed of any delays.
• Maintain accurate records of container movements, including returns and de‑hires.
• Update daily operational spreadsheets and reports.
• Ensure compliance with driver fatigue regulations, legal weight limits and safety requirements.
• Identify and manage dangerous‑goods consignments in line with legal standards.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years experience in transport, logistics or fleet coordination.
• Strong organisational ability and capacity to multitask in a fast‑paced environment.
• Confident communicator able to liaise effectively with drivers and customers.
• Detail‑oriented with a focus on accuracy and regulatory compliance.

Required skills

• Proficiency with spreadsheets for real‑time data management.
