Training and Development Officer

About the role

Sofitel Brisbane Central, a luxury hotel in the heart of Brisbane, is looking for a Training & Development Officer to join its Talent & Culture team. The role builds capability, drives compliance and creates meaningful development opportunities across the hotel, working closely with the Director of People & Culture and hotel leaders. It covers training, compliance, talent development and early careers.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and deliver Sofitel, Accor and hotel-specific training programs
• Own mandatory training, monitor completion, identify risks and keep the hotel audit-ready
• Partner with leaders to find capability gaps, coach teams and design targeted learning solutions
• Lead new employee onboarding and support performance, development and career conversations
• Support talent identification, career pathways, succession planning and Accor development programs
• Manage relationships with TAFEs, universities and education providers, including apprenticeships, traineeships, internships and work experience
• Maintain training records, dashboards and compliance reporting, and share insights with leaders and the Executive Committee
• Champion a culture of continuous learning, accountability, recognition and professional growth
• Work with department leaders, People & Culture and external partners to build workforce capability

Required profile

• Experience in learning & development, training, Talent & Culture or hospitality
• Strong facilitation, coaching and stakeholder management skills
• Confidence engaging with employees and leaders at all levels
• Excellent organisation and attention to detail
• Understanding of compliance, governance and audit requirements
• Ability to analyse data and turn insights into action
• Proactive, solutions-focused approach in a fast-paced hotel environment
• Passion for luxury service and exceptional employee experiences
• Experience with apprenticeships, traineeships, internships or education partnerships highly regarded
• Tertiary qualification in HR, L&D, Business, Hospitality or a related field preferred
