Trainee Public Health Physician

About the role

The Trainee Public Health Physician will join the Goldfields Public Health Unit at the Kalgoorlie Health Campus on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. Working under the guidance of the Public Health Physician, the trainee will support disease‑control and immunisation projects across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement disease‑control and immunisation initiatives.
• Liaise with hospital clinicians, GPs, regional public health teams, sexual health services and Aboriginal community‑controlled health services.
• Run screening programmes and manage disease outbreaks, including trachoma, STDs and TB.
• Conduct epidemiological analyses and collaborate with health‑promotion and local‑government agencies.
• Provide education and advice to general practice, health staff and community organisations on public‑health issues such as environmental health and local‑government planning.

Required profile

• Medical graduate eligible for Advanced Public Health Training with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse stakeholders, including Aboriginal communities.
• Commitment to a multidisciplinary, learning‑focused environment.
