Test Engineer - Mission Software Systems

About the role

Leidos Australia's Mission Software Systems (MSS) team, which covers intelligence, software and cloud, is looking for a Test Engineer in Melbourne. You will verify that software and systems meet defined requirements while contributing to broader quality assurance activities. The team builds, tests and deploys software solutions across environments including cloud, and plays a key role in technology modernisation for government customers.

Key responsibilities

• Review requirements and designs to define test conditions, test cases, expected results and traceability.
• Execute functional, system, integration and regression testing across applications, interfaces and environments.
• Record, investigate and retest defects, working with engineers to clarify behaviour and confirm resolution.
• Maintain test evidence, quality records and reporting while contributing to automation and process improvement.

Required profile

• Attention to detail, analytical thinking and a practical understanding of how systems behave across connected components.
• Ability to document evidence clearly and work constructively with engineers and stakeholders.
• Australian citizenship, as the role requires it; security clearance (NV1, NV2 or TSPV) may be needed depending on the project.

Required skills

• Experience testing software, systems, integrations or technical products.
• Ability to derive test cases from requirements, designs and acceptance criteria.
• Experience executing tests, documenting results and managing defects through resolution.
• Knowledge of traceability, regression testing and quality assurance processes.
• Experience using test management, defect tracking or requirements management tools.
• Advantageous: automated testing, API testing or performance testing, CI/CD and quality engineering practices, exposure to integrated, regulated or mission-critical systems.
