Temporary Part‑time HSIE Specialist Teacher (0.6 FTE)

About the role

St Philip’s Christian College is seeking a passionate temporary part‑time teacher to deliver HSIE (Human Society and Its Environment) curriculum. This 0.6 FTE position blends classroom instruction with pastoral care, aligning teaching practice with Christian values and the College’s Whole of Life Framework.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver HSIE lessons that integrate Biblical principles and current educational research.
• Collaborate with the school executive and teaching team to ensure compliance with Australian Professional Standards for Teachers and the NESA syllabus.
• Provide pastoral care, including devotions, prayer, and support for students’ spiritual, physical, social, and emotional wellbeing.
• Manage classroom behaviour and create inclusive learning environments in line with College policies.
• Coordinate and supervise students during school activities, excursions, camps, and special events.
• Maintain accurate administrative records and contribute to team planning and assessment processes.

Required profile

• Demonstrated commitment to Christian education and the College’s core values.
• Strong subject knowledge in HSIE and ability to link content to Biblical doctrine.
• Experience in delivering secondary education and pastoral care responsibilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively with students, families, and staff.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Australian Professional Standards for Teachers and NESA curriculum requirements.
• Proficiency in lesson planning, assessment design, and classroom management.
• Capability to provide spiritual guidance and support student wellbeing.
